§515.01 Fire Safety on the Island

All commercial buildings and rental properties shall maintain fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in working condition. Due to the limited capacity of the island fire department, all buildings exceeding 5,000 square feet shall be equipped with an automatic sprinkler system. Open burning is prohibited except in approved fire pits at least 50 feet from any structure. Fireworks are prohibited without a permit issued by Council for organized public displays only.
