§505.07 Keeping of Chickens

It shall be lawful to keep female chickens, commonly known as hens, in residential districts subject to the following conditions: no more than six hens per lot, no roosters permitted, the coop and enclosed run shall be located in the rear yard and set back at least ten feet from any property line, the coop shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition, and feed shall be stored in rodent-proof containers. Any person keeping chickens shall obtain a permit from the Health Department and pay an annual permit fee as established by Council.
